Nkyinkyim Band & Kwame Brenya Announce Joint Album “African Somebody” — Out August 27, 2025

Accra, Ghana — Ghana’s celebrated live music group Nkyinkyim Band and acclaimed wordsmith, musician, and spoken word artist Kwame Brenya are set to release their first-ever joint album, “African Somebody”, on 27th August 2025.

The date carries double significance—it marks not only the release of this landmark project but also the birthday of Nkyinkyim Band, making it both a gift to fans and a milestone in the band’s journey.

African Somebody is an 8-track cultural statement, weaving together the band’s rich live instrumentation with Kwame Brenya’s poetic storytelling and lyrical dexterity. The songs speak to the African journey—identity, resilience, heritage, hope, and unity—capturing the essence of what it means to be an African Somebody.

Adding to the richness of the project, the album features powerful contributions from Megborna, Enam, Bugbede, and Mishu from Kenya, highlighting both Ghanaian creativity and pan-African collaboration.

Though Nkyinkyim Band and Kwame Brenya have worked together previously, African Somebody marks their first full-length joint album, blending live band authenticity with lyrical consciousness in a way rarely seen on Ghana’s music scene.

African Somebody will be available on all major digital platforms from August 27, 2025.

This is more than an album—it is a celebration, a statement, and a soundtrack for every African who knows they are indeed somebody.
